It reminds me of being much younger where all everything seemed so freeing. There are no burdens: your phone isn't ringing, the laundry isn't staring you in the face, and the bills surely won't be chasing you down the street.
And why do I run competitive races and want to qualify for Boston? almost for the same reason I appreciate any and every fish I ever seen or caught showing off a brilliant dance of what they are capable of-and I want to know the same about me; what am I capable of? sub 3 hr marathons? helping introduce others to the sport and hopefully increased well being? or is it just that moment where you are away from everything and everything seems so free?

-Carissa's youngest brotherAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5546822554121908494.post-55328273775091938402010-08-28T17:24:22.241-07:002010-08-28T17:24:22.241-07:00You wrote that?! There are Mondays, spouses...Life is so complicated.
There are Mondays, spouses, finances, employers, employees, cholesterol, yard work, politics, and countless other things to worry about.
We worry, labor, and worry some more, only to find ourselves in a new week doing it all again.
Then we look back and take stock of what we actually acomplished and impacted in our lives, and find that we were in control of precious little.
We find that our own kingdom of influence was bound within us all the time, that only when we pushed ourselves did we make real change.
And when those changes spoke to others to push themselves, we saw God in action.
We are as the wild things are, interwoven in the fabric of life.
Lawrence said he never saw a wild thing feel sorry for itself, and neither shall I. The wild thing always pushes itself.
It does so not for glory, or conquest, but for life.
I run because it pushes me. I run because it changes me. I run because I live.

-Carissa's brotherShamos Runhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06018138906109788050noreply@blogger.com
